Yesterday in science we learned about the difference between a chemical and physical property. This also led into a discussion on the difference between a physical and chemical change. This was covered on slides 13-16 in the Chemistry Notes powerpoint. The students were then given the rest of the class to work on the assignment on slide 17. We went over that homework today and then did an activity where we made crystals out of a supersaturated solution of borax and water. Students then answered some questions associated with the activity and I did some demonstrations at the end of class.
Tomorrow we will look at the history of the models of the atom and how atomic theory has changed over time. We will also look at our crystals and see how they have grown overnight.
