Physics 30 - Jan 16

Today in class we continued on with the last unit on electricity.  We learned about electrical power and the cost of electrical energy.  Assignment 5.4 was assigned and then we had time to move on so we learned about Kirchoff's laws and how they apply to series circuits.  Examples 16 and 17 were taken up and Assignment 5.5 was assigned.  Tomorrow we will finish up the class by looking at parallel circuits and then doing Assignment 5.6.

Reminder for students in Period 1 who have not handed in their student response forms for the bulletin board project to please do so tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the deadline for those to be handed in.  Students in Period 5 have until next Wednesday, Jan 22 to do so.

Physics 20 - Jan 14

Today in class we wrapped up the course.  We looked at the wave properties of diffraction and interference and what they look like with a 2D wave.  We then compared them to light and noticed that light displays these properties as well.

We then wrapped up the course by looking at light's true nature.  We came up with an interesting conclusion about this.  Look at the powerpoint called Double Slit in the course notes to see the conclusion to the course and find an answer to the question we have been trying to figure out all semester.

Tomorrow in class we are going to take up Homework 5.6 and then you should get the rest of the class to work on the review for the exam on Thursday.

Physics 30 - Jan 14

Today in class we looked at electric circuits, current and resistance.  We learned how to draw schematic diagrams and how to use Ohm's Law.  Examples 10-14 were covered and we ended the class with some time to work on Assignment 5.3.  We will take that up on Thursday.

Remember tomorrow about the unit exam on unit 4.  For students in period 1, if you want to get started early on the exam, I should be at school around 8 am.  You can begin your exam then if you want.

Study hard tonight and good luck tomorrow everyone.
