Physical Science 20 - Feb 1
Hello everyone! Yesterday we spent our time getting through the course outline and discussing classroom expectations. Today we started into chemical nomenclature. This is a review of Science 10 and the concepts you should have learned in Science 10. We learned how to name elements, covalent compounds and even simple, binary ionic compounds. This information was all covered on slides 1-42 in the powerpoint labelled Nomenclature Notes. Students followed along with the handout I gave them today in class and just filled in the blanks from the powerpoint. At the end of the class I assigned Homework C1 and Homework C2. We will go over these tomorrow. Tomorrow we will look at ionic compounds where the ions can have multiple cationic charges as well as compounds that involve polyatomic ions.
